Gargoyles

By Nicole

Magnificent creatures, so unique and strong,
They protect the innocent from those who do wrong.
They sleep by day with flesh of stone,
By night they awake with skin and bone.
With bat-like wings and razor sharp claws,
And vampire teeth that snap in their jaws.
They come in every color from red to gold,
With a human-like appearance that some have told.
They cannot fly nor swoop with might,
They glide on the wind like a stringed kite.
They protect humans which live in their land,
Which prospers well with their loyal hand.
When humans need guidance with their troubles and toils,
The creatures come and help them, they are called the gargoyles.
